Heart Hugs

Today has been a good day.  For some reason I got an extra boost of energy today.  Thursday is a random day for a boost of energy.  I'm not complaining though.  I am getting to know the kids at Construction Zone pretty well.  Too bad tomorrow is the last day.  After CZ, I was able to go to a lady's house and chat a bit with another young adult here and my partner.  We went through some scrapbooks and eventually chatted for quite some time.  I felt like it was a heart to heart.  I like heart to hearts.  I'm gonna call it a heart to heart.  The lady shared her perspective on dating and out of a scrapbook came her old ''qualities in a husband'' list.  I may or may not have one of my own.  She wrote her list when she was twenty-two.  She calls this the list not to have.  It was quite hilarious.  I have no idea where I am going with this.  Today was a good day..yeah.

Thanks God!

p.s. 5 more followers before my
birthday and I will host a giveaway.

Down by the Bayou

Today is the second day of Construction Zone here in East Fremantle.  I am enjoying it quite well.  I love the kids here in East Freo.  I am a little sad already when I think about going home but I know that I just need to make the most of the time I'm here.  I have two weeks left to grow in the relationships I've made.  Now, this is really random but I have been wanting to do a tribute to one of my favorite cities.  If you know me at all, you know that my favorite city is New Orleans.  In fact, I feel like God has called me there and I feel like I will live there at some point in my life.  It is even on my Forever 21 list to live there for a period of time.  If you know anything about New Orleans, you know that even my header is a pic of my Cinderella castle, the St. Louis Cathedral.  St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans is where I want to get engaged.  Be sure to let my man know ;).  You know the one no one knows about.  Anyway, this city has a big piece of my heart for several reasons and God has even woven it into my testimony.  I love this place and people in it.  I call it home.  Here is my Nola tribute:

I love Mardi Gras.  I love the Saints.  I love the French Quarter.
I love Magazine Street.  I love the French Market.
I love New Orleans.

There is a special group of people that hold my heart here in East Freo.  If you asked me my passion, I would have to say youth girls.  I love them!  The youth girls here are awesome and so strong in their faith.  I am going to miss them greatly.  I still have two weeks however so my weepy blog post has a while.  I wanted to share an amazing picture of some amazing girls:

Peace that Passes Understanding

I am not a hymn loving girl.  I never really liked the style of hymn growing up.  Don't get me wrong.  The lyrics mean more to me than anything but the melody just isn't my style.  There is one hymn that I am attracted to though.  Here are the lyrics and I will explain the rest later.

It Is Well with My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll;

Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.

I really love this song.  It is one of my favorites.  Today, my great aunt went to be with the Lord.  When I saw the message from my mom, I had a surrounding peace around me.  It was like the whole room filled with God's arms hugging me.  She lived a great life.  I hope that I will be able to live a life as long and full as hers.  She had many great grandkids.  I hope that the Lord will allow me to see great grandkids.  I am now grieving more for my grandmother.  She was her sister.  I hope that my grandmother feels those same arms of Jesus hugging her.  I want her to realize that it is well with her soul.  I am sure she already has that peace.  She is a strong believer.  I hope to be like my granny someday.  I really need to go to bed but feel like sharing now.  I hope everyone goes to bed tonight with feelings of peace.  Rest in God's presence.

It is well with my soul...

Stars and Stripes Forever

Wow!  I just had a hard time picking a title for this blog post.  I wanted to show my gratitude for being an American without sounding like a total hick.  That is a fine line, my friends.  Sorry that I haven't blogged in a while.  I was waiting for some quality decent photos.  I've had alot of fun time in the Freo area lately.  This past Saturday was really fun.  My partner, Britney, and I met with a couple of other Americans in Perth and some pretty cool Aussies too.  We went to the Freo markets which are really lovely.  We then stopped at a vendor and each got a henna tattoo.  We of course had to get something Australian.  We opted for the flag.  Then they took us to this really good burger place called Jus Burgers.  It was really good and a nice American treat for me.  That night, we attended the other American's youth group night at Lakeside.  I forgot to mention that we had our "American Night" the previous night and it was a success!  We had chili dogs and play American trivia Jeopardy.  The next day, Sunday, we had an all-American lunch.  Fried chicken, home-made mac n cheese, corn, and pumpkin pie were on the menu.  I can't forget the sweet tea!  How I savored that tea!  After my food coma, I was able to go back out to Freo again tonight with my East Freo homies.  We went to San Churros.  This is the best place ever.  They sell the best chocolate in the world!  I got a white chocolate fondu for two and shared.  I have had an amazing weekend and start to my week.  I hope the rest of week follows suite.  :) Picture time:

can you spot the aussie?

this is an awful pic of me but I was supremely happy with my glass coke bottle.
