Giveaway

It's Giveaway Time

It's that time for me to host my first ever giveaway.  It's a pretty big deal.  This giveaway isn't as huge as I would like because I'm waiting for more followers and my etsy shop to get off the ground.  For now and for my first giveaway, I think this will suffice.

This is the Best Friend giveaway

If you win this giveaway, you will get a pair of earrings for yourself.  See picture below.  They are a brassy color with pearls.  You will also get TWO rings.  One ring for yourself and one for your friend.  All you have to do is tell me what color bead you would like and what color wire.

Coffee with Christy

Every Friday I have coffee with Christy
Who is Christy?

Christy is my friend/accountability partner.  I met Christy almost two summers ago when we worked at the same summer camp.  She graduated from college with a degree in Graphic Design.  Now Christy is back home (which happens to be the same town as where I go to college) and is seeking God's will and direction for her life.  You can check out her website here or check out her blog here

Anyway, every Friday we get together at the local coffee shop and go through the Bible together.  Prayer is also a big part of our time.  When I saw the current trend/linky party of Coffee Fridays, I knew right away that I had to take part.  My plan is to share with you what scripture we discuss and how to apply that to your life.  So here we go for our first Coffee with Christy!

Coffee with Christy

Today we read:
James 5:7-12

What this means to me:
Whew!  This was a smorgasbord of topics.  First it talks about waiting patiently for the Lord's return and then it jumps to complaining and swearing.  I thought about how while we are waiting patiently for the Lord, we also need to remember that He is sovereign and He has authority over time and salvation.  While we might really want to see people in our lives get saved, He has plans to draw them near in His time.  This reminded Christy of Galatians 6:9 which states, "So we must not get tired of doing what is good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up".  He is sovereign.  I was so convicted about complaining in verse 9.  I am a major complainer.  I have so much to be grateful for and I take almost everything in my life for granted.  Then, this section on scripture moves on to discuss endurance.  Verse 11 brings up Job and his endurance in trials.  Then it goes on to proclaim how merciful and compassionate our Father is.  I've never endured such trials as Job yet my God has still poured so much love and affection on me.  I'll never understand how He can love someone so dirty and full of wrong motives.  This section ends with verse 12 which urges us to not swear and let our "yes" be "yes" and our "no" be "no".  The part that spoke the most to me was the message that God is our author.  He is our merciful, sovereign author.  He has a hand over our trials, waiting periods, and every situation in life.  Let's give Him our life so that He may take over writing our story to be part of His story.

How can I apply this to my life:
I want to do less "controlling" and more trusting.  I need only be still and know that He is God.

Memorize:
"See, we count as blessed those who have endured.  You have heard of Job's endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord.  The Lord is very compassionate and merciful."
James 5:11

Pray for Christy:
  • Confirmation and direction for her life
  • Preparation for her summer at the ranch
  • Healthier living

Big Changes Soon!

Today I met with my friend/accountability partner/husband seeker and we dicussed all things blog.  She has her own website under construction and is creating another blog for everyday life.  We are kinda sister blogs.  You can look at her progress on her website here.  Also, I'm going to get (fingers crossed) a new header.  I want it to be a customized drawing of mine.  Again, I say fingers crossed.  My blog should be getting a whole new look Friday.  I want it to be cleaner with a more simplistic design.  All you have to do is become a follower and cheer me up.  I mean, come on.  I only have 17 followers.  Anyway, here are some outtakes from today's blogger bash (I like to give a catchy name to everything I do).

Chinese Take-out

I've been Etsy shopping.  Well, it's more like window shopping.  I'm broke as a joke.  Anyway, here are some items that I "can't live without".  If I have a secret admirer, you aren't doing a good job.  Take notes:

I have a real problem.

Anyway, I was surprised today when I went to my room and on my bed found this:

That's right.  Egg rolls.  They are my favorite food in the whole universe.  Take notes again, secret admirer.  My friends are crazy.  Thanks Sumar!  That right there, my friends, is what I call my fourth meal. Amen.

Sunny Daze

I've had a pretty good Friday.  It was a beautiful day in Fondren.  Fondren is an artsy part of Jackson that has alot of thrifty stores, art galleries, and retro diners.  Some of my friends and I walked around and enjoyed the day.  We browsed some thrift stores and enjoyed glass bottled drinks and cake pops.  Spring has sprung!

I also bought an old homemade potato bin that was painted orange.  I'm not going to store potatoes though.  I think I might store art supplies or jewelry.  I'm really excited about it!  Maybe I can share a picture of that later.

Until next time.

Art Journal

As you might have noticed from my last post, I am now on Bloglovin.  I'm so excited about this new way to keep up with the blogs that I love and now you can follow me there too!  Also, I promised you guys that I would talk..er..write about my new art journal.  My best artistic moments happen when I least expect them to.  Monday night I was just hanging out with my friends Hannah and Olivia.  Hannah blogs over at Girl Meets World.  We were in a crafty mood but, we had no idea what we were going to make.  I've had this box of colored paper since 2009.  It is still filled to the top with paper in every color you could want.  So, we decided to make journals.  I think they turned out nice.  We looked up journal prompts on the ever-so awesome internet and wrote a prompt on the top of each page.  I think I am mostly going to draw in mine.  It is my art journal.

I'm so excited to fill this journal up with my dreams and hopes!

Short Hair

I have short hair now.  I miss my long hair.  Leave it to your imagination and picture my tomato shaped head with short, disobedient locks attached.  Grrrr.  Anyway, I spent the night in Hattiesburg with my friend, Sarah.  Yesterday, I bought a book.  Today, I finished it.  You know that it had to do with food, and of course included recipes.  Just my style.  It is a memior of author's journey to quit overeating.  She travels to many places and discovers the finest foods and how they are made.  She even goes to a slaughter house.  She practices yoga and fasting and finally finishes her journey in the end.  I love the language of the author and her writing style.  I would recommend it to a friend.

If that is Nutella on the cover, you already know it is a good read.
Mmmm..nutella.

Comments don't scare me.

If You Like Pina Coladas

I know, I know....Let's pretend that I've actually updated my blog within the past month.  Sometimes you just get into a slump.   I do have some updates for you guys, however.  I spent March 1st on a plane headed to New York City.  I went on the trip with my college's chapter of the Art Education Association.  It was truly magical.  While I do consider myself more of a "Big Easy" girl than a "Big Apple" girl, it was wonderful.  After NYC, it was time for Spring Break!  My friends and I, the Wolfpack, stuffed my car with luggage and headed for the Florida beaches.  We stayed on Pensacola Beach in Gulf Breeze.  We had a blast.  There is nothing like the beach with your wolfies.  Now, I'm at home with my Brookhaven friends and back in the mood to blog like crazy.  Blogging fever always hits me in the spring and fall.  So..if you are still reading this blog, you are amazing.  You win a million dollars...not.  Thanks for reading, though!
