Crush on You

What up?  It is time for me to share my Current Crush again.  Man, time flies.  Wasn't it Thursday yesterday?  Whatever.  This week I'm crushing on Zucchini!

I know what you are thinking.  One: you look gross.  (I know, I know.  It was one of those all natural, no make-up, let your hair air-dry type of days.)  Two:  why is zucchini so crush-worthy?  You see, I picked these giant vegetables from my grandmother's garden.  Now, I'm not crushing on the zucchini as much as I'm crushing on the zucchini bread I'm baking tomorrow.  It might sound gross but it is oh so good.  Stay tuned for the recipe and results tomorrow.

I'm linking up to Framed Frosting and leaving for Malawi in 4 days. One, two, three, four. Let the panic attack begin.

Waka waka

Attention all readers: in 5 days I will leave for Africa.  In five days, I will be on my way to Malawi.  Lilongwe, Malawi to be exact.  Have I mentioned that I can't wait?  I'm so excited to meet my team.  I'm excited to meet my African brothers and sisters.  I'm excited to serve God and experience a new culture.

I will be gone for 2 weeks.  I'm actually upset that my trip is so short.  I spent from May 21 to August 3 in Australia so, this is a slight adjustment for me.  However, I plan to savor every moment and love on some orphans.

If you would like to keep up with my adventure in Africa, I've created a Malawi page.  I can't wait to see what God has in store.  I'm sure I have something to learn.  I'm forever a fool.  Pray that I am able to kill my flesh daily and listen to God.  Pray that I clinge to Him and choose Him in every aspect of my life.  Pray for my African friends that will have weird white people come into their life.  Pray that my team in unified.

Hype girl

Tomorrow my dear friend, Jessica, leaves for South Korea.  You know Jessica.  I have blogged about her many times.  You might remember this picture of her:

(sorry for the bad quality from a phone)

Jessica spent the summer in South Korea last summer also.  She will be working with North Korean refugees.  If you don't know much about the crisis in North Korea then you should check it out here.  She will also be sharing the love of Christ as she and her team teach the refugees English.  Please pray for my friend and her team.  Also pray for the refugees as they adjust to life in South Korea and some receive love for the first time in their life.  I'm going to miss my hype girl.

(Talyr, Me, and Jessica)

If you would like to hear more from Jessica, let me know.  I can't share her blog link here for privacy and safety reasons but if you want updates, I can give you the link in an email.  In other news, the church picnic today didn't dissapoint.  Sometimes I'm glad I'm baptist for the food.  Ha ha.  No, really I'm just a Christian girl living in a broken world.

Today I am linking up with Framed Frosting
and co-hosts: The Dreamy Meadow and The Jack Chronicles for...

What is my current crush of the moment?  Books.

Do you know how hard it is to buy books in advance for a trip and then not read them?  I bought all these books for my plane ride to Africa in less than TWO weeks.  Yeah.  I've already starting reading all three.  At the same time.  Oops.

I love books.

Cassie's Big Daze

Today was my best friend's wedding reception.  Let's rewind.  My friend, Cassie, got married last Saturday in a private wedding ceremony.  Thankfully, I was invited to that private wedding ceremony.  Because of the small wedding, she had a large reception today, after her honeymoon.

wedding day

I met Cassie in 2009 when we worked at Camp Garaywa together.  A group of three friends quickly formed.  Cassie, Amanda, and I were the youngest camp counselers.  We bonded over everyone else not thinking we were equipt to lead.  Fortunately, Christ knew better than those other people.  He is the one who lead us there, after all.

We worked another summer in 2010.  Cassie had a secret.  She had met a boy.  A boy name Mason.  Well, you know where this goes.  They fell in love.  Yadda, yadda, yadda.  She was his first kiss.  Awe.  They got serious.  He proposed.  She said yes.  Blah, blah, blah.  And now they are married.  Yay for happy endings!

Holy Guacamole

2 Haas Avacado
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic, minced
1 Tablespoon Lemon juice
1 1/2 Tablespoon Onion, chopped fine
Salt to taste

Scoop out the avacado flesh and then mash it in a large bowl.  Add other ingredients according to taste preference.  This was my guess on how much I put in my guacamole.  You can really just "eyeball" it.  You can also substitute in red onion to make it more colorful.  You can eat right away or refrigerate overnight.  I found that the dip left over had a better taste because the flavors blended.  Serve with tortilla chips or vegetables.

I'm pretty sure that Nickelodeon used this stuff to slime people in the 90's.

I know, I know, I know...

That I am.  I can't lie.  I have enjoyed my blogging break.  Shhh!  I have a recipe coming soon that is fairly healthy.  Until then, I finally uploaded my pictures from New York.  Yeah, I went to New York in early March.  Whatevs.

Sorry for the horrible quality.  There is only so much you can do in a museum with no flash.  It was an awesome trip and I can't wait to go back again.

Recipe coming soon.
