Works of Art

Sudden Changes

I will begin a new adventure in five days.  Saturday, I will be moving into my dorm at MC.  I can't believe I will actually be going there.  Today, I visited Co-lin to find my final project for drawing 2 from last year.  While I was there, I stopped by my friend's dorm to visit.  I was a little sad that I wouldn't be staying there this year but I know that I will have plenty of fun at MC.  Tomorrow, I will be traveling back to Camp to help out on the ropes course.  The BSU lead team from MC will be having a retreat there and I am excited that I get to meet them early.  I would be lieing if I said that I won't be nervous about going to MC.  This college is on an university level and I'm sure the classes will be harder.  I need to keep my grades up so I can keep my scholarship.  I also have to find a job so I can have money for gas and my many adventures that I love to take.  And of course I want to be social!  It's all a little overwhelming.  The worst part is being at home right now and having to wait to move in and get settled.  This week is undoubtedly going by very slow.  On the plus side, I will be living two doors down from my best friend, Cassie.  That is something I can't wait for.  And the fact that I will be decorating my dorm room again.  I will be sure to put up pictures of my dorm when I am finished.  I guess this blog post was more of a vent.  Venting about what is worring me.  I still have to sign up for one more art class.  Good gravy, I am worring too much!  Anyway, this is just one more adventure to add to the book. :)

New Year

Alot has happened since I last wrote here in my blog.  Yeah, I'm not that good with commitment.  Anyway, I have decided to continue to write here in Mr. Blog.  Let me catch you guys up on some things that have happened lately.  First of all, I am about to enter my sophomore year in college and I am transferring to Mississippi College.  I'm pretty excited about that.  Granted, I am also extremely nervous.  I have to stay to stay on the Dean's list and be social and work.  I have to get real balanced real fast.  Last semester at Co-lin, I was in Ceramics 1.  How did that go you may ask?  Let's look at a picture of me after a week on the pottery wheel:

Enough said.  I also forgot to mentioned that my major is still in art but with an emphasis on education.  So yep, I'm an art education major.  Something I said I would never do.  I really hope to reach out to people through art.  It's kinda my passion.  I'll blog some more in a minute because I'm skyping with my friend, Amanda, now.  Later.

When the dog bites

When the bee stings

When I'm feeling sad

The Eve of Christmas

i have forgotten to mention the fact that i have made it through my first semester as an art major.  it has been a great semester.  i got my grades for my classes and i got all a's in my art classes so that is a major plus. :)  i love my major alot.  i never knew i would like it so much.  i have learned so much too.  in art history, (which is kinda my favorite since i love to know what i am talking about) i learned about alot of different art cultures.  i have to say my favorite would be the minoan culture (pre-atlantis distruction) or maybe the "dark ages".  i had to put quotations on that because as my art instructor makes it clear that those ages were filled with so much light and not dark at all.  i have no idea why but i think i might teach art history.  in drawing, i have learned to trust my ability to draw.  i have survived two and three point persceptive.  i tried different medium.  i have to say my favorite is probably a nice pen and a juicy permenant marker.  in design, i learned how i love to put designs going off the pages, which my instructor loves a whole lot.  i really can't wait for next semester.  i will be living at home and commuting, so i will have more workspace and will probably get more art supplies.  i will continue in my journey as an art major and take all my basic classes (art history, drawing, design) part two.  it should be interesting.  stay tuned!

i forgot to mention that i painted a quote on my wall last week, right above my bed.  here are some great art quotes:  http://www.artquotes.net/
